There’s more controversy surrounding the $90,000 cheque given to Senator Mike Duffy by the Prime Minister’s former chief of staff.
CTV is reporting the PMO is refusing to grant the RCMP access to an email about the cheque.
The prime minister’s communications director confirmed that the email exists.
The February 20th email apparently describes a secret deal to have Harper’s then-chief of staff Nigel Wright personally bail out Duffy. The senator got in hot water for improperly claiming living expenses.
One Liberal MP wants the RCMP to obtain search warrants, but
CTV’s Robert Fife says the Mounties would prefer to see the PMO voluntarily provide all of the relevant information and require anyone with knowledge of the Wright-Duffy deal to come forward.
